In a world filled with noise and distraction, the voice of Christ remains steady and clear: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me” (Matthew 25:40). Today, that calling has a name—Mirta.
Mirta is a single mother, courageously fighting stage 3 colon and liver cancer. Her battle is not just one of the body, but of the heart, the spirit, and the daily needs of life. She is the sister of Esther, a woman of faith who, like her namesake in the Bible, stands in the gap for her family and people. But now, they both need us to stand with them.
This is more than a personal story. It is a divine invitation.
The Bible commands us not to look away from those in need. “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed” (Psalm 82:3). We are called to do, not just to feel. Jesus didn’t just speak compassion—He lived it. He laid hands on the sick. He wept with the grieving. He fed the hungry. He stopped for the one.
We must do the same.
As believers in Jesus Christ, our faith must move us to action. “Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth” (1 John 3:18). The local church, individuals, businesses, and ministries throughout Northwest Arkansas have the opportunity to be His hands and feet. This is not about charity—it’s about obedience.
We can pray. We can give. We can spread the word. We can lift up a mother who is in the fight of her life and proclaim that she is not alone.
